Equality for the Ladies

The idea of equality for women is presented a lot in media and politics.  Some artists have made projects to represent or is used to fight for equality for women, either it be representation of women or for women to be heard.  For example the only representation MOST females may get is that they're in the art as the object versus being the artist.  One artist that have representation (along with many other) is  Faith Ringgold, her painting " For the Woman's House" in 1917 presents women by a women.  She used oil on canvas to create this project for women.  She address the issue of equality in art museums and females only being the object or secondary focus in a painting by getting her art to be presented and then making her work about females only, and it looks like it's females doing some things that is male dominant.  Through this painting Faith Ringglod engaged the people with presenting females of different colors doing things other than sitting there being pretty or just not being the main focus.  Something like this important because it is a step closer to females getting more representation in the art world, being that a women made a project/painting with women titled "For the Woman's House'.  Art and political activism are different, but they're the same you get me? Art can be used for political activism, or artist can use there art to be political activist but art that's on the outside isn't necessarily political activism.
