Guerrilla Girls Postcard

As much as people like to deny it, we all still live in a world full of sexism, racism, and discrimination in general. Some are treated unequally because of their gender or the color of their skin. Some victims decide to fight against it while others are more sensitive and keep it inside. Some have wondered how it would be like to live in a world without discrimination. What if we only heard positive stories every day in the news?  What if everyone could go outside without the fear of feeling threatened by others? We are extremely far as a society from living in a perfect world but as more activists rise and speak to general audiences, they spread their beliefs and messages in the hopes that others will join their cause.

What happens when an activist group like the Guerrilla Girls meet two strange men looking for a Utopia? In the play, “The Conures in Distress”, both humans and birds face the reality of discrimination. When the Guerrilla Girls accompany Diego and Jason in their search for a perfect world, they stumble upon the infamous land of the birds. Their leader, Clucky, is not to excited to see mere humans enter his land, but it is soon revealed that the Utopia isn’t as perfect as it was expected to be. The city is trashed. Litter and pollution pile up in the parks and oceans, food is constantly being stolen, and the museums are vandalized. But who is committing these crimes and why? Find out by indulging in this comedy! However, be prepared to discover the truth of the so called Utopia!
