female
Artist and women of color, Politician's etc. struggle through many
challenges in the workplace/ society. To understands today's view on
society, you must understand the history when women had to fight to
vote. Although
society has began to change, we still have a long way to see women grow and to be
treated equal.
1) In
1971, the first exhibition featuring the work of Black Women artist,
took place in New York. It is called "Where We At". The exhibition
turned out very successful which motivated the 14 Black Women artist WWA
to start a movement. The ideas they came up with were equal pay for
women, equal representation for women artists and equal respect for
women's work.
The
artist aligned themselves with the black arts movement above the
liberation movement. which was controlled by white- middle class women.
Almost 50 years later, an exhibition loved the impact on the black female artists and is now on view at the Brooklyn Museum.
I made an instagram page and posted pics and videos about my topic.
